I am impressed w/ the phone. I wonder how the PTT works. Since it used Verizon's network, I would think its the same as Verizon.

No, Amp'd uses Kodiak, the same as Cingular. That makes it MUCH better than Verizon. 🙂

I would think that would embarrass Verizon more than a little. Perhaps this will make them rethink their PTT tech?

Who really cares about Push To Talk? Unless a whole lot of folks sign up for Amp'd (before dying) then it is useless. The thing about Nextel is that their PTT is almost instant AND they have (or had) near 17 million subscribers all with the PTT enabled phones. Cingular and Verizon do not have enough subscribers with PTT phones walking around to make it worthwhile, ESPECIALLY when they already offer unlimited mobile-to-mobile to other customers already. I am more intrigued by the fact that Amp'd is offering unlimited messaging for $14.99. Verizon doesn't offer an unlimited messaging package and I wonder if Amp'd is using VZW's network for this? One would assume it is so, but if that is true then one would hope Verizon would follow s...
