Build quality compared to A800

Mar 30, 2006, 9:14 PM
As you probobly know, I am a stickler for external build quality.

Any idea on how it fares up to the A800 by Samsung? Is the flip solid? How are the plastics? Do they feel hollow? Is there a cheap feeling battery door?

compared to the a800 i think you'll be rather happy. the plastics on the phone are all tight. there is no squeaking or that cheap hollow feeling around any part of the phone. but when holding it, it is clear this is a $99 phone: the finish is nice, but does not exude style or some mythical high quality feel. and the slide is not nearly as nice as, say, the nokia 8800 with its stainless steel ball bearings and spring assist. the slide does not stick though, and the action is smooth. i'd say compared to other phones in it's price range, the build quality ranks way up there.
