Battery life and task killer

So with all the mixed reviews on task killers, this will come with a stock one that you should actually use?

If the EVO can get improved battery life and a suggested/android approved task killer then WOW.

Task killers are BAD.
If you have 2.1 or 2.2 then android already has a task killer built in that you can use. Go into setting-application-manage running services- and then close the apps your not using. pretty easy

what is so bad about task killers? I think the concept itself isn't as harmful as people say, just the method that people use them. For example, I open the browser. Then I use task killer to close the browser. The phone can handle that without damage.

Now when people are using the auto-kill when the screen is locked or they are killing certain apps (like voicemail; which in turn temporarily kicks you off the network), then I can see when something bad can occur.

They ruin the apps and cause force closing as well as causing the phone to randomly reset and freeze up.

Been using advanced task killer since October of 2009 when i bought a Hero, now I'm on a EVO and i have never had any issues. I only had one program force close on me and that was angry birds during the beta (and that was known issue with the evo). I use ATK right after i turn my mobile network off and it saves my battery life. I used to get 4-5 hours out of the EVO now i get 8-12 depending on use.

Yah if you close out of those apps properly then they wont show up as running. If you leave things like the gps, bluetooth and wifi on then those will drain your battery. turn them on when you need them then turn them off. 😉
I just tested this on my phone i left pandora running in the backround then went into manage running services and closed it.
As cell student said the built in manager works great shutting down those other proccess's (web browser) when they need to be turned off all on its own too. You can use task killers if you want but im telling you they'll mess everything up( I speak from experience) 🙂 .

The ones baked into the operating system actually shut things down at the right time, in the right way.
