just what we need, more crippled ideas and crippled devices. as always, its not to benefit anyone but the people who create this crap. the main attraction to GSM is the sim cards swapping ability so what does this do to advance GSM?. 😕

And since Verizon Wireless has soooo much experience with GSM technology, I'm sure they will contribute quite a bit about locking up devices.

Also, Verizon is expert at crippling phones and making decisions for the customer and cutting options. I think you all are missing the point here. You will still be able to swap you sim from one device to the next. The difference is that you will not need to go to a store or wait 3-5 day to receive the sim in the mail when you have a sim card and a phone already and you want to add a line or data device to your account.

I know the article says they're going to start with devices that aren't phones, but you better believe some manufacturers (especially fruit-based ones) will be all over this tech.
