yes the no contract em+ is always a better deal its just no one has the money for the phones

lets say a no contract em+ is for 1 phone with unl t=t=w that comes out to 80$ with a contract its 100$ now lets say a phone is 400$ with no contract and with a contract its free with the 2 year contract.. now your going to save more money in the long run with a no contract as opposed to a contract.. but people want to save right now and then complain...

its so simple and easy its always an obvious choice but people want free these days

You're right but the smartphone that's only $100 or $199 is always going to be more attractive.Especially if you can upgrade after 12 months. Why spend $400 on a device that will be out of date the next year? That's especially true with Android devices.

The other thing is the opportunity cost pf fronting the 400 for the phone + the 80 for the first month's bill vs saving $80 over the course of 2 years.

Personally I'd prefer to keep the 480- in my pocket today as 80 bucks over 2 years (11 cents a day) is pretty much unnoticeable savings.

They offer interest free financing on the phones when you get the EM+ plans and add the payment right to the bill. Before we got 3 smartphones on our EM+ family plan, I priced out the same plan on a 2-year contract. Our savings is just over $60 per month, which is $1440 over 2 years. Also, with no contract or upgrade incentive to wait for (which is also 18months or more), I can upgrade whenever I want. I just bought a new phone and got rid of the old one on ebay.

It's definitely the plan for smart consumers.
