Sprint and Clearwire Fight Over Smartphone Finances
To all the misinformed(and misinformERS)
If you don't like the charges, you can choose another carrier that offers data caps and overage charges for plans that already cost more than the Sprint plan that includes unlimited with no data cap. VZW will offer data caps or a VERY expensive unlimited plan. ATT offers 3G plans with DATA CAPS for more more money. PC world and Engadget both say that Sprint has the best device lineup of any company...
So quit griping about a $10 charge that STILL ends up costing you less than the competition on a device that the competiton WISHES they had to offer you.
And isn't the $10 Premium Data charge on top of the $70 Simply Everything plan that is already advertised as having unlimited data? And only required or even offered for two phones, both of which have 4G data.
If I called Sprint today and asked what the $10 Premium Data plan was for, they would state that it was for 4G data. Going to three different Sprint stores (including one corporate owned store) gave that exact answer when I was researching the Evo and Epic.
You are definitely drinking the Kool-Aid my friend.
Nobody here is arguing that Sprint is not reasonable or a bargain, even with the $10 Premium Data add-on...

If it is for phones only then why isn't it required or even offered for the LG Optimus S or any other smartphone?

Go ahead and call them. They will tell you it's a Premium Data charge NOT a 4G charge. Again... Why would they "charge for 4G" on those TWO devices and NOT on EVERY 4G device they offer? They don't so the charge is not for 4G.
LG Optimus and other Android devices have no HD cameras. They don't share HD video and giant photos on the web. They don't offer the Samsung Media hub that allows you to download HD movies and content from Samsung. They don't offer Video calling. These devices are capable of running WAY more apps and using far more DATA... they were designed to do that. Of course they would offer such services on a 4G device... The other phones you guys are bringing up don't offer the same cap

You ready for it..?
The other 4G devices don't have these key features.
- fast processor
- screen
- resolution video
- HD recording
- quality pics to snap
- video conferencing.
You can't go back and forth saying well it has 2 cameras, and it has the mobile hotspot, which has it's own charge requirement. I use netflix on my iPhone 4, get great quality, unlimited data, no additional charges. a very Data intrusive app, like the samsung media hub, which is only for the epic so far.
All the devices Sprint offers can use the SAME data, SAME amount, as most of the android devices run on the SAME OS, 2.2, yet they aren't considered to be used for Data? get real.
Still tryi...
