Sorry to burst your bubble, but there is a 200 million strong global Symbian user base who have already been developing apps on Symbians extremely difficult to use platform for the last decade. Tastes are highly regional and you will start to see the US playing less and less of an influential role on how cell phones(and smart phones) are used.
It may come as a surprise, but the are roughly 6 billion other people across the world who may not necessarily think that every piece of technology to come out of America to be a blessing from God.

While its true that nokia is biggest manufacturer, they will not be holding the number 1 spot for too much longer. Samsung is gaining quick and in a couple years is expected to overtake nokia. As far as the smartphone market, which is what everyone is interested in, nokia is losing as millions of its users have already switched to other platforms including iOS, android, and blackberry. In the coming months, as the n8 sales fail to meet nokia's expectations, I believe that the new canadian ceo of nokia might change things up a little and hopefully we will see a cool android in 2011.

Symbian is on it's way out, numerous reports support this prediction.
They can defend the platform all they want, but the fact is that on a daily basis the competition continues to take Symbian customers away from Nokia.

I'm a long time Nokia user and Nokia is by far the best when it comes to hardware but MeeGo & S^3 aren't the answer.
