Calling a 3G technology "4G" is dumb...

Calling the first iterations of LTE or WiMax 4G is equally dumb, as neither qualify as 4G networks. Frankly, its just a naming gimmick anyway. 3G, 4G, whatever, as long as I have fast web access I'll be smiling.

Very amussing. But everyone is right on this one. It is very much a marketing ploy simply because of the faster speeeds. However, I am happy to be a bit faster on my mobile device even if no one has actual 4G. 3.5G People!!!

Mathematically speaking, numbers can be rounded up. Explains the whole 4g, 3g claim.

So 3.5, 3.51, 3.75 could be rounded up to 4G. But then 2.75 could be rounded up to 3G.

Damn, EDGE was a 3G network, and most of us already had 4G networks (3.5G technically). Who knew? Looking forward to 5G?

Ok. My 2 cents: Get rid of 3g, 4g bs, and just tells us what speeds the networks are. That is all I want from the cell phone carriers. Because in reality, most of us care about getting good call quality and fast internet speeds, regardless of what 'G' it belongs to.

Also, T-Mobile, please make your '4G' speeds consistent within your network. I can walk a mile down the street, and your 6Mb/s download becomes a 1Mb/s download, even with full b...

Consistency issues with data and voice are more so an issue on your handheld device than issues with signal strength.

I can tell you after about 6 months of usage, it is definitely not my handheld. A G2 customer who posted his review on youtube also mentioned of this issue.

I have been told by T-Mobile reps that upgrading ALL of their 3G towers to full fiber backhaul is a work-in-progress, so pretty soon all t-mobile towers in most 3G areas should see fast speeds.

Amen to consistency. I have 5 bars with the H lit up on my G2 and it will only get 500k download most of the time. I bought the phone because of the so called super network but it has been subpar up to now. Its hit or miss and that is even when I have 5 bars and the H. I don't get it but if this continues I will have to look at other options.
