I think the insistence on whole-number designations is stupid. Just say what the fricking data speed is.

Is it a lie to say that something is a 4 when it doesn't meet the technical requirement? Most consumers probably have no idea what the arbitrary data rates are for either 3 or 4, so functionally it is all just marketing hype anyway.

Plus "4G" is just a *term* that a panel of experts agreed on....way back before HSPA+ was a reality.
