AT&T Says T-Mobile's '4G' Numbers Are Wrong
There Is More To 4G Than Speeds.
But what is 4G?
G stands for generation. In order to claim a Generation, a very large percentage of the industry must adopt the same technology and build on this outline. Within this technology are the criteria of certain aspects to accomplish this goal. While speed is the obvious, what about the other ingredients.

"T-Mobile said that it plans to begin upgrading its HSPA+ network from the current 21Mbps theoretical max downloads to 42Mbps theoretical max downloads. It has already started preparing its HSPA+ network in New York City for 42Mbps. T-Mobile is also already weighing future network upgrades to 84Mbps and 168Mbps."

The ITU (International Telecommunication Union) says "4G" should offer speeds of at least 100 Mbps.
Right now T-Mobiles network does not quite meet "4g" standards, Niether does LTE, or Sprints WiMax. But if the technology progresses with future network upgrades as planned, I believe HSPA+ with fall within the guidelines of true "4G"
