Motorola hasn't had any R&D for the past half of the decade. Once a company that pioneered impossible form factors, Motorola has produced garbage at a rate that would make HTC Blush.
A desperate attempt by VZW to push the Droid as a legitimate iPhone competitor gave them a dead cat bounce, but they're still making less than $1.00 per handset sold- and Google is footing the bill for the core OS *and* advertising. And you can whine about the reported issues the Palm Pre or iPhone 4 has had, it's a drop in the bucket next to any turd in Motorola's lineup today.
I don't know how any company that makes the Q, the RAZR (Especially Sprint's version), the CLIQ, The I1, The Backflip, the FlipOut, the Q9M, and the ROKR still stays in business. H...

I would rather have an HTC (I do) than a crapple, and I can have any phone I want. Motorola has an awesome phone in the Droid X and excellent build quality. I have more defective devices with my iphone sales than either Motorola or HTC's put together. You can't even buy insurance on an iphone...hmm, wonder why..

I mean from the carrier..I cant offer it, less commission for my sales people..
...
Don't what crappy company you work for but I know I get commisson for selling Asurion insurance on an iPhone 4 with RadioShack.
...
I own a Radio Shack franchise, same crappy company you work for except all my guys have a base of $14 an hour and their triple @ $99. We do not sell Asurion, only the corporate stores do. Asurion is crap, $199 deductible for an iphone..
Who are you going to work for when Radio Shack finds a buyer and sells out? I'll just take down the Radio Shack sign and keeep going..

You can't get insurance on an iPhone and if you really need it, do it through your regular insuance carrier. State Farm, Progressive, All State, they'll do it! So there's really nothing to cry about.
...
Yes you can get insurance on your iPhone 4.
...
Ok so, yes technically you can get Insurance for the iPhone, AppleCare Protection to be exact, not regular insurance unless you do it through an alternate provider like your home and/or car insurance provider. AppleCare very clearly states that accidental or intentional damage is NOT covered. And damge whether accidental or not is what you ultimately want insurance for. Manufacturer's defects are covered by basic 1 year warranties on any phone.

The Droid X's build quality is so bad our sample unit suffered from registering false inputs on its touch capacitor. The screen flexes when you press on it. That's not even possible on an iPhone 4.
And you can whine all you want- you've never owned an iPhone. I've owned HTC's- and they singlehandedly have not only the highest exchange rate of any phone I've used, but the sloppiest build quality. I've never had an iPhone shipped to me with a non-working keyboard, microphone or number pad out of the box, but I've had more HTC models ship with defective hardware than iPhones I've owned.
And if you think this is just me giving one person's anecdotal evidence, go to any carrier's web site and read up on what the lowest rank...

I agree, Motorola is living on barrowed time.
HTC offers a wide array of devices to fit a myriad of demographics so to generally pit any HTC up against AT&T's flagship iPhone is hardly an intelligent comparison. besides one of the best features of the HTC EVO other than not being AT&T is that it will give an iPhone user phone envy.
The iPhone was top of the line (3 years ago) but the competition has caught up and passed Steve Jobs baby. Apple has rested on their laurels and has failed to bring fourth any jaw dropping features. The truth hurts.

the iphone doesn't have a number pad or keyboard i would hope it wouldn't ship with broken ones

🤭 *Sigh* Agreed. (Yes, I am ashamed to agree with him.)

If Motorola isn't responsible for their own successful smartphone line-up, why is Apple wasting their time on them instead of going after Google?
Nearly everything mentioned in the the patent suit is software related, and Moto is only responsible for a small fraction of the s/w on the devices
...
It boils down to the fact that Google is not selling the final product, Motorola is. Because of the way Android is licensed, Motorola is responsible for any infringing code.
(Oracle's lawsuit against Google is a little different, so ignore that for sake of example.)
...
Tripped over my own words. Motorola is responsible for any infringing on operational patents. On code-related matters, Google may be responsible (Oracle lawsuit.)

It's sad considering Motorola is credited with the revolution of stylish cell phones, but it's undeniable that they have all but destroyed their brand.
