2.1???

Now, that's just insulting. It was bad enough that these devices shipped with 1.6, but to now only upgrade them to 2.1, when everyone else is moving to 2.2, is a slap in the face to all the people who bought these devices.

Of course, anyone who just bought anything running 1.6 probably ought to have their head examined, but that's another story.

there are really very low percentage of people that care what software is in a phone. Most people dont care about the software in the phone at all or care if it gets 2.2 or not. 2.2 does not make it a better phone by the way..I have a galaxy s phone and very happy with it..have 2.1 and awaiting for 2.2...but only people that care about updates it tech junkies...

I'd imagine Android users are a little more techie than your average phone user. But yeah, the general populace doesn't care about software, just that it works.

Its still absurd that this phone didnt ship with at least 2.0 or 2.1 though. Looking at the phones specs, its a decent peice of hardware being severely dampered by either AT&T or Sony Ericssons laziness.

4 inch capacitive touchscreen
1ghz snapdragon processor
8mp camera

This phone is on par with all the higher end androids, theres no reason whatsoever for 1.6 to have ever touched this phone in the US.

anyone with a brain cares, those that don't care have apple devices. software updates are not for "tech junkies" it's for anyone who wants a better performing phone with newer features. also, what source did you get the information from about your pole on the "low percentage" ratio is from, I would like to know.

2.1 is nice, clean, and stable. 2.2 is still shaky, crash- and app force-close-prone, and is full of bloatware. How can you claim the new OS to be battery- and memory-efficient if you have a ton of **** running in the background at any one time without a user opening those apps and battery draining in a matter of a day? That's just bullshit!

I am able to do it just fine. Yes, you can install Flash 10.1 on Android 2.1. But what is the point of surfing flash-based web sites on a device with 3.5-4.3 inch screen if one can do it on a pc with a nice big monitor?
