Maybe if RIM's Canadian CEO's spent more time fixing their OS...

RIM is taking a waxing because their smartphone OS simply isn't powerful enough for 2010. It was a very nice and efficient OS in the days of the Pearl, but it's outclassed in every metric today. I hate writing this, because on Phonescoop's own forums I said back in 2006 that it was Blackberry that was the future.

The problem is that RIM simply sat on their collective behinds and produced round after round of crap software. Then, of course, justified it as "the new normal." Guys, the Storm should've never been built. The Torch- a beautiful piece of hardware- should not be outclassed by a Palm Pre once you turn it on. And it shouldn't have taken you 3 years to get with the WebKit program.

Developers for RIM are equally PO'd. Wa...

It's a technology on its way out. HTML5 video has quadrupled in usage and is now available on over half of web sites that once required Flash as a wrapper. As a platform, it's going nowhere.

So I guess we have to ignore a platform that is about to be released on almost every major cell platform except ios and renders the iphone useless on almost of the websites that use flash for watch videos. Your a big iphone fanboi we know this but please dont troll flash vs html 5. Flash is the dominate standard by a long shot html 5 still has a very long way to go before it can become a real competitor to flash content 😎

a year? two years? I've lost track.

HTML 5 is the only game in town when it comes to mobile. Flash hasn't even shown up yet aside from a few Android handsets, and given I don't even run Flash on my desktop browser anymore as most sites have converted to HTML 5, it's death will be before it ever sees the light of day on BB and WebOS.

bluecoyote, you have made your argument clear and simple, without having to put spin on it. Nothing but facts. Facts that RIM is gonna have to realize if they don't want to lose more ground. I agree with you when you say that the Blckberry OS is old and outdated. With Mac OS and Android offering so many different features and apps, blackberry is becoming merely an alternative if your cellular store does not have an iPhone or a Droid phone.

Or if you want a phone with great battery life and no touch screen. Also if you need a phone that does not drop calls or needs a bumper or waste data. Blackberry are very good at what they do they are dependable almost never lag and are good business phones.😎

Uhhhhhhhhhh....

Blackberries lag when you throw any advanced functionality at them. The system completely breaks down when you start talking about desktop-grade computing- something that's been a reality in smartphones since the original iPhone.

Want to know why I see high-ranking execs and small business owners using iPhones? Because if someone sends them a web site they can view it. If someone sends them a 50 page presentation they can view it. If they need to VNC in to their server mainframe, they can do it.

The only people using Blackberries are people imprisoned by their CTO's and people with a credit score of 300 on Boost Mobile.

Credit score of 300 on Boost, so John McCain, Sarah Palin, Barak Obama, and their elections teams, and their Senate support and US Cabinet are using BB's on Boost? A bit over done. OK, I buy its dated, but it is functional.
