$30.00 for 300MB or $30.00 for unlimited...

Maybe there is something I am missing here.

If Verizon has set the Value of unlimited Data at $30.00 then why can't they just switch you over to that plan if you go over the 150MB plan?

$15.00 for 1/8th of a Gig worth of data seems a little expensive.

It's almost like they WANT their customers to go over on data...

Really only works for BB users who do not use youtube or Pandora/Slacker. There are lots of people in that category, and Verizon doesn't want them jumping to AT&T.

They had to make this option available. AT&T called the bluff on unlimited pricing mandates, and it worked so Verizon basically has to follow suit.

T-mobile will be next, and Sprint will follow. It's only a matter of time.

30 for 200MB, 50 for 5g

Sprints:

Sprint is $15 a month for the add on including web, sprint tv, and sprint radio (for basic phones with basic plans). $30 add on for messaging, web, email, gps, sprint tv, and sprint radio (for android and smart phones). There is a $10 Premium Data add on for 4G capable phones. There is no cap on cell phone data!

Its pretty much pointless actually. Sprint has data plans that the data is unlimited and included in the plan. 69.99/mo for 450 anytime min, Unlim Data, Unlim Msging, N&W starting at 7, and ANYmobile ANYtime. The cheapest talk plan is 39.99/mo with mobile to mobile. Why not get the whole package instead of adding on?

The only thing that has a cap is the aircard and TAB because they are "data devices" you pay 59.99/mo, .05 per g...

Verizon offers a 3gb plan for 35, and a 10GB plan for 80

more options is typically a good thing.

for "I just want it" users, they can get plans starting at $20 for it.

Verizons contract plans are a lot higher than sprint's are, but their Tablet pricing is actually really, really good.

Perhaps if a customer monitors their usage and discovers that they have exceeded their 150MB they can backdate a feature change as long as they discover this before their bill cycle date? I don't think they WANT customers to exceed their usage. This is a response to AT&T offering a $15 option I think.

Absolutely. This goes hand in hand with the new data usage monitor widget available with the updated myVerizon app. Just like with minutes. Pay attention to your usage and you can switch mid cycle if necessary and avoid overages.

Changed my Verizon data plan to the $15 plan. During my conversation with customer service it was explained to me that if I notice that I am close to my 150MB limit then it can be changed to the unlimited plan. However, if I go over 150MB during the current billing cycle then I will not be able to change it to the unlimited data plan. I will be billed $15 for another 150MB.

To some extent I agree, but 150MB or AT&T's 200MB for $15 seems very fallacious unless you're using a feature phone. Although I usually never even reach 1 GB of usage, I normally use about 500 to 800MB, so, not thank you to either, I'll stick with unlimited. 😛

Hmm, I'm getting a sense of deja vu. Anyone remember sprint fair and flexible plans? Great idea, but it died because even though it was a great idea it was just too hard for customers to get their head around.
And as a point of comparison, Verizon has set the value of unlimited minutes at 69.99, if you sign up for a 900 minute plan and go over Verizon doesn't switch your plan to unlimited for you. It's up to the customer to be on top of that. The worry free guarantee gives customers the option to change plans anytime, see the post on backdating.
And on the flip side, if you sign up for unlimited data and happen to use less than 150 MB there's not a single wireless carrier that would charge you less for using less than your allowance. We wo...

yeah i'm sure verizon its sitting around saying how can we make our customers go over and be pissed off at their provider. you people on here are a joke verizon is still keeping their unlimited data plan so if you pay attention to your usage you can change to a unlimited data plan for the same amount you would pay for overage. but people expect everything to be handed to them and the company monitor your usage for you instead of taking responsibilty for monitoring your own usage. at&t took away their unlimited data plan so to me it looks like they are wanting customers to go over. Its a free market if you don't like your options don't complain about go to another provider, or grow up and be responsible for your usage don't expect someon...

1. for light users of data

2. they do allow you to upgrade to the unlimited plan all you have to do is pay attention to your usage but seems that you are to dumb to understand that!!!

3. to give customers options

but they are not going to hold your hand and monitor your usage for you which is what the people that complain on here expect

Sprint does everything better??? You must be smoking the good stuff. That statement was so idotic that I am questioning your brains ability to function. Sprint isn't even in the top 3 of wireless providers as far as reliability or as a business model. The fact that Sprint is almost broke and that they can't afford to put any more into Clear and the debacle that was Nextel only proves it. You're a funny guy lil man

Ok, you're not getting it.

This is the REAL WORLD we're talking about here. The argument of who has the coolest toys only matters if everyone is on equal footing.

Sprint is LOSING MILLIONS OF DOLLARS A YEAR. If they don't turn a profit soon it doesn't matter if they're the first company to offer a phone that turns into a spaceship, they'll still go under.

They posted their first positive subscription quarter in over 2 years and they STILL lost money.

That's not a healthy company, that's not the sign of a company doing something right.

If a company cannot turn a profit (or at least break even) they're a failing company, no matter how flashy their toys are or how much you like the taste of their kool aide.

You obviously work for sprint, or you're just totally ignorant of business in general.

No one in their right mind would call Sprint's business strategy a good one when it CANNOT MAKE THEM MONEY.

I WANT Sprint to succeed. If you actually read posts on here instead of mindlessly vomiting sprint propaganda you would see that. I think sprint offers some amazing packages, but they have craptastic advertising, and they're really poor with their money. I want them to get BETTER, you obviously want them to keep failing.

But Sprint CANNOT succeed, and Companies like Verizon and ATT will NOT pay attention to them until they can at least break even.

They were losing MILLIONS of customers a year, selling off a ton of their overhead, and n...

Sprint will not be around much longer because they are not making money and not adding new customers they are cheap because thats the only way they can keep the customers they have. Actually, I think they "want" it, but not for the reason you're thinking.

As a Verizon rep, you hear ALL THE TIME about how "I'll NEVER use data on my smartphone, I just want it for the calendar" while they are eying the droid X.

So Verizon comes out with a cheaper rate, but says that they will not credit people who blow past it. For the 15-25% of their users who consume less than 150MB a month (mainly blackberry users I'm guessing) this ends up saving them a nice chunk of change.

For the others, they realize they actually DO use data after that first bill and most of the time they like the things they do use data with.

I don't think verizon's doing this to collect overages. I think it's more to prove a point
