I don't want Sprint ID on my Epic. I don't want to have to root my phone, but if Sprint is going to force me to put that awful Sprint ID on it - I may have to.

Sprint ID is a waste, and mostly useless.

The best way I can explain it is kind of like a "theme" for your phone. You can pick sports and it installs different sports apps. Or you can pick travel and it installs apps that they think can help you when traveling.

From the many reviews I have heard, Sprint ID has great potential and could actually be very useful. However, in its current state, I would have to agree that I would NOT want my high end device to be integrated with an experimental platform. I hope there is a choice to activate or deactivate this feature at will.

Luckily my Wife got her Epic prior to this offering.

Are you out of the woods? Can it be an O-T-A software upgrade?

That is correct, it will install while you're sleeping. Or do it automatically as part of the PRL update. There's a halloween scare for you.

If they tie it to the 2.2 update those people unwilling to root are screwed though.
