Some math, if you're interested
iPad Wi-Fi w/MiFi bundle costs $630, $730, and $830, right?
That also comes with a monthly $20 data plan for 1GB per month.
Let's pretend you keep said package/service for two years.
That's $630 + (24 x $20) = $1110.
OR
iPad directly from Apple = $500.
MiFi is FREE with a new contract, but requires either $40/mo for 250MB or $60/mo for 5GB.
That's $500 + (24 x $40) = $1460; or
That's $500 + (24 x $60) = $1940.
Obviously, the prices go up for both examples if you choose a higher capacity iPad.
Verizon's $20 for 1GB is actually a pretty good deal when compared to $15 for 250MB or $25 for 2GB from AT&T, and the MiFi lets you use it with other Wi-Fi devices.
Just sayin'.

I didn't see in the article where Verizon was offering a 1gig plan for the MiFi device bundled with the iPad, I thought it was going to be the standard $60.00 5gig price.
It's going to be hard to use the MiFi with any other device AND the iPad with that package.
...
if the device is going to cost $130.00, is Verizon going to lock you into a two year agreement at the $20.00/1gig package price or will they let you go without a contract?
...
I guess I should have put this all in one post but...
$5.00 more for 1gig on AT&T still seems like a no-brainer with all other factors in consideration. What are the overages on Verizon on the $20/1gig package? AT&T is $10.00 per additional GIG right now.
The iPad is 630.00 with BUILT IN internet from AT&T for $5.00 more than Verizons package PLUS it offers DOUBLE the data.
I still cannot see the advantage of using a MiFi with a 1gig package solely for use with your iPad, the overages are going to destroy you.

Mifi means your not locked just into the device. So if you have an ipod touch, or a DSi or something along you can use the connection there.
If they are selling the mifi for 130 then there is no contract, the device is free on contract
...
I guess using your iPod touch or DSi along with your iPad on the 1gig MiFi plan would be one thing, but your screwed if you connect anything that consumes large amounts of data to the thing unless you go with the 5gig plan.

But if you go with the 5 gig plan, you're paying less than the overages you would with an ipad only. (I could burn 5gb on an ipad)
...
i could burn 5GB on AOL dial-up easy 🤣 🤣 🤣

There will be 2 other data plans available for the Ipad with Verizon. $35 for 3 gigs and $50 for 5 gigs. The $50 5 gig plan is only available for Ipad customers as everyone else will still pay the 59.99 for the 5 gig data plan.
