The closest I get with Sprint for an early upgrade is for being a premier cust you can get full discount after one year instead of 2 if you renew. That was pretty nice Att letting people upgrade for only 75 bucks? on a new smartphone and 200 isn't bad either grant it's a big jump but still good if ya want a new phone much cheaper new then most on Ebay. & still they let you change to other phones early for only 75 whts everyone complaining abt. Now of course Att still rips you in other ways just like Verizon which is why I am with Sprint Tmobile used to be the value leader but not anymore.

If you're on a $49.99 or higher rate plan you can upgrade after 12 months on Verizon for regular discounted phone pricing. You just don't get your New Every Two discount.

The annual upgrade is not more expensive. Customers get the two year price on any device after one year on a $49.99 plan or higher but pay the $20 upgrade fee.

Example - Droid X is 299.99 with a $100 rebate. Customers can get the Droid X for 319.99 and still get a $100 rebate making the phone only $20 more.

Well, that is essentially what the early upgrade system is.

The reason for the fee is to discourage people from wanting to constantly upgrade for trivial or frivolous reasons, but if the situation is urgent, it IS possible get the fee waived, either through a VPGM override or by calling customer care.

People are entitled to change their phone as often as they like, but they are not entitled to get a discount whenever they like.
