Bad Idea

No, this is a bad idea.

Depending on where you are at in your contract, it requires a 2 year renewal from the date you sign. With the pricing, in most cases you're better off paying the additional $100 and not extending your contract at all. I worked for Cingular/AT&T for many years and left a couple of years ago. Once AT&T took over they just don't get it. They are trying to run it like the ran a dying landline business and are getting left in the dust. I still have their service and have no complaints, just do not like many of their policies and EVERY time they change one, it hurts the consumer. They are making plenty of money. What if I had a basic phone and wanted to early upgrade to a blackberry or Android phone? I get jamm...

You DO realize that nearly every policy that AT&T has changed in recent years has been changed so as to be identical to Verizon? Verizon is a company which has a completely unjustified reputation in some places for being 'consumer friendly' but they aren't, at all.

As for me, I've done the round robin on mobile providers, and I stick with AT&T because I think of all the wireless providers they are the ones which have policies which are the most reasonable and flexible.

Example: the last time I knew I was going to be late in paying my bill, I called and set a payment arrangement, my late fee was $1.23, small and reasonable. When I was with Sprint, not only did they not want to work with me to get a payment arrangement, they also c...

To each their own...I've contacted VZW for late payments. Not only do they already give 5 additional days after the due date before it's considered 'late', they dropped the charge when I went past those 5 days. I didn't ask for it either, they did it on their own. They have also freely dropped $80 worth of data charges that were mis calculated by their system. Honestly...the term 'consumer friendly' is a gray line because most people these days are so dishonest and cheap that all they want to do is swindle the corporations out of jealousy of success. Most people seem to feel entitled to be PAID by VZW to use the service that they willingly signed up for. Since VZW won't pay them...they find every way possible to squeeze money off their bill....

Well, I agree about the people who demand 'credits' for everything...

Around where I come from, we refer to Verizon as the 'We Never Credit' network....your mileage may vary

Sprint, on the other hand, hands out credits like they were candy...which is probably no small part of the reason why they haven't made a profit in who knows how long.

Well..your point about Sprint is exactly WHY VZW doesn't throw credits around. I mean, if you put the whole thing into perspective, how many theoretical yous have asked for a credit merited or not? Add all that up and it can be in the $$millions. They definitely have to pick and choose their battles, per se, to protect themselves.

I agree, but for small charges (by 'small' I mean '$5 or less') they are better off just giving the credit, the cost of the call to customer service is more than the credit they refuse, so what do they have to gain by refusing it? Even if they 'win' the battle for the credit, Verizon loses money just for the call.

You do also realize that AT&T is NOT the parent company right? Cingular is still the parent company, and AT&T is just around for the marketing name because Cingular dug itself such a deep grave it couldn't get back out.

Also, AT&T gives 10 days from the due date. My bill is due on the 3rd of each month, late fees are assessed after the 13th. It even says so on my bill.

Incorrect, there is no such thing as 'Cingular' it is dead, it does not exist.

Cingular bought AT&T, not the other way around, it was AT&T which dug itself into a hole and then Cingular bailed them out.

They spent a couple of years floundering, trying to figure out what to do before they decided to merge the two companies....

Cingular is no more.

i agree people always call in for credits for nothing. If their was a mistake on the companies end or you have a legit case for a credit that is fine, but idk why verizon wouldnt give some credits out atleast.

I was agreeing with you up until the "jealousy of success" stuff. I doubt any of these people are frustrated because they tried creating their on national wireless company, but just couldn't work it out, so now they will PUNISH~! the successful carriers by calling in and asking for credits for RANDOM REASON~!
