Unfortunately many carriers hide fees in the small print and many don't find out about them until AFTER their bill is due. I'm all for this legislation.

BTW - not everyone wants prepaid because of limited phone choices.

This isn't about hidden fees. You don't get bill shock from a $1.49 service charge.

You get bill shock because you were a moron and didn't realize that your Nationwide coverage means no roaming in Mexico or that your 700 min. plan doesn't come with an extra 800 minutes for you to use at your leisure before you incur overage charges.

This bill is meant to mollycoddle the mentally/cellularly handicapped.

But there are still fees that people are not aware of. For instance - most carriers place IM icons on the phones. Most people don't know that each IM is charged as a text message. If you don't have a text messaging plan, that $.25 charge adds up. This is just one example.

So why not have an alert that you can just ignore if you choose than not have any alerts at all?

EX: I sold a woman a netbook (subsidized with 2 year contract via ATT) I told her that she needed to stay on the 5GB package for 2 reasons: 1- It was required as a condition of her subsidy. And 2- She was likely to go way over and get charged a lot. Of course, she went hom...
