It's because they can buy the phones at at much lower cost than most authorized retailers can. So they are still able to make some kind of profit off these devices, plus i don't think the mobile employees do not make commission. I'm pretty sure they are hourly.

Because corp stores have to pay commission, and on top of that they need to pay for their stores purely with phone sales.

A best buy sells phones as only PART of their product, and most likely not one that they make a ton of money off of. If you get a free fascinate in best buy, they're hoping you'll buy your next samsung TV there as well.

Best Buy Mobile associates don't make commission, but we have our own perks [bonuses, employee discount, etc.] :]

The reason we get the phones at such low cost is because we're partnered with Carphone Warehouse.

Super excited to come in and hear about this today, but I'm glad I don't work Fridays It's going to be slammed!

All the sales are vendor supported. Still if you get a case, screen protector, and a charger. Thats like $60. So $200+ or $60+? Gee... i dont know..

the phone reps at best buy get a monthly bonus if they hit quota for sales. they get hourly on top of that, about 10$ an hour. i started at 9.75 when i got hired on at best buy.

They don't pay commission like carriers do, and on top of that, phone sales are just a SMALL portion of their overall business.

They want people getting their phones there to get some higher ticket items there (computers, music, appliances) where they make the real money.

This is really cool. I'm assuming you still have to pay the sales tax (at least here in Calif) and your account has to be current (not in arrears). Anybody know what else is slated to be offered? The Fascinate is nice, esp free but just wondering what else is down the road.

it also looks like (from the article), that it has to be a new 2 year agreement. Gonna have to deal with a lot of ppl complaining that they've been a customer for years, and can't get that deal.
