come to any kind of conclusion or final judgement for the U.S. lawsuit? I thought that was still crawling through litigation and nothing had been actually done yet.

In other news, if Apple has the right to sue in the U.K., how does Nokia have the right to sue in the U.S.? o.O

Patents are part of competition. It's to keep the other team from cheating, and these lawsuits also establish who owns what.

lets say you spend countless hours trying to creating a new keyboard layout that is optimized for the English language that allows typing to be twice as fast is it is on the current keyboard layout. You spend your hard cash to have a local manufacturing shop create a few keyboards that you can give to your family to test out and get feedback on.

you finally decide everything is where you want it and submit it the new keyboard to the patent office claiming it is unlike anything ever created. 2-3 years later (because you are NOT a multinational corporation) you get a congratulations letter in the mail along with a certificate with your patent number on it. 2 weeks later (after your patent is public knowledge) Microsoft goes into manufactur...
