The iPhone's UI wasn't finished in January of 2007, the iPad's wasn't in January of 2010, and the Pre's wasn't in January of 2009, but they were quick to show off how it worked. Both of those devices hit the market 6-7 months after they were introduced.
If RIM's isn't baked enough to show us how it works, I think that speaks for itself.
And if history has taught us anything, it's that RIM has no problem falling to meet its reputation (Storm.)
