Sony Ericsson Leaving Symbian

1) Can't really blame Sony Ericsson. Nokia does take a long time to roll out Symbian updates. You have to think that SE is tired of putting an effort into an OS where the ROI takes so long to show.

2) Does this really hurt Symbian all that much? Sure, SE has a name presence but how much of a factor does it actually have in the market? Its market share is probably less than 5%. And on top of that, SE is kinda like that person your mom warned you not to date. It will always go after the latest flavor of the month: Symbian UIQ to Windows and now Android. Hasn't exactly shown stability here.

It's true that Sony does seem to change around a lot, but I think that's only because they have never really had any meaningful success in the smartphone market.....

Sony is a big company which manufactures tons of consumer electronics products, it may be time for them to give up on the smartphone efforts, which don't seem to be going anywhere at the moment.
