Dismissing Health issues?

Let me sum up the health concerns about cell phones in one question. Would you really be shocked, surprised even, if twenty years from now we end up with tumors or infertility and all sorts of problems that end up being linked to our usage of cellphones? I'm not saying it will happen, but is it such a far fetched idea? Think about it, we are the guinea pigs for this technology, it's only been around, at most, for ten years (mainstream). This is the first generation to use these wireless devices. Get it now? Exactly..
I'm not one of those health nuts, but ever since I read about several European countries passing legislation that restricts the amount of towers companies can put up, coupled with American govt's history of pandering to...

But we aren't guinea pigs to the technology. Radio has been around for over a hundred years.

Even the more extreme users of RF have not really shown any sign either direction.

"A variety of studies over the past 50 years have been done on workers exposed to high RF radiation levels; studies including radar laboratory workers, military radar workers, electrical workers, and amateur radio operators. Most of these studies found no increase in cancer rates over the general population or a control group. Many positive results could have been attributed to other work environment conditions, and many negative results of reduced cancer rates also occurred.[70]"

If anything, these people should have higher cancer rates for sitting on thei...

Thank you for your informative reply. It is always essential to hear both sides to an argument. Being a non expert I am forced to accept the opinion of others and use my judgment to the best of my ability. IMO, Just the fact that govt allows this use with minimal restriction despite the alleged threat of massive health implications outweighs the conspiracy theories floated about wireless distributors fudging the studies. I'm unsure of the implications involved until I take the time to study it for myself The concerns of other large populations (Hempstead, Europe) is enough to leave me concerned. In spite of being a cellphone user and leaving this reply with said cellphone = P

Then again, with the number of young people in this country who cannot do basic math, have poor grammar skills, and cannot spell, something must be causing it.

Here we go again, another tin foil hatter.

The word Radiation has a real bad rap. People run in fear when they hear the word.

Did you know your oven emits deadly amounts of radiation?

So does your barbecue grill (gas or charcoal, either one), the campfire, the car, your home's heater, your light bulbs, the monitor you are staring at, candles, even YOU emit radiation.

So why haven't we all died of radiation sickness?

There are several different TYPES of radiation. They can all be deadly with high enough exposure, but each type is tolerated by the body differently, and has different effects.

In the case of energy radiation, we have different frequencies of the same thing. The lowest frequency is Radio waves, what your mobile ...

Thanks for your input, it helps dilineate where the concerns may be. Though I'm not sure why you dismissed my skepticism by calling it a "tin foil hat"; I said I have a cellphone didn't I?
The point I was trying to make is that this is the first generation to live amongst the world of whatever waves they are. In constant, 24 hour, ever increasing doses. That's why I appreciate the other guys clarifying remark that people have lived amid constant exposure for decades without ill effects. (but now we have an entire population rather than a sample) Sorry if I dont care to study science, I own cellphones, I don't study them. I'll leave it to people like you to tell me if they're okay or not.

Well here's a really good guinea pig for you, Martin Cooper who invented the cellphone is well into his 80s, is pretty healthy for his age, and he has been around cellphones for AT LEAST 40 YEARS! Seems like a pretty good example to me. He's lived quite a long healthy life.

Aww. You guys are making me feel better already. I think I might sleep with my cellphone tonight! It will no longer be my mistrusted friend but rather a companion, a partner in success, or just the media device I use in the can to reply to phone scoop debates = P
