This is likely due to the iPhone coming to Verizon

Why else? Stick the iPhone on any carrier and they will double their network traffic. SO regulate it with tiered pricing.

I would rather be on a phone and a carrier without. As long as it stays connected consistently.

I just want to once again point out that we still don't have any actual evidence that the iPhone is coming to Verizon....

at least not until Verizon switches to GSM (*which is precisely what they are doing, what do you think LTE is?) snd frankly, it doesn't seem like it would make good business sense for Apple to produce an entirely different model just to service Verizon customers, not to mention that they will not get the sweet deal they get from AT&T, nor will they get the kind of tight control over the product that AT&T grants them.....giving up all the powern and priveleges in exchange for producing a product for a small, niche market doesn't seem like a good idea

I don't think 90 million Verizon customers counts as a small niche market. And as for producing a different version of the hardware for CDMA carriers, Motorola makes the droid and the milestone, HTC makes the hero in several different variants, RIM makes lot's of practically identical curves and bolds with different signal chipsets, some with WiFi some without. Point is, if you wanna play the game and be a bigtime phone manufacturer, you make a unique handset for each carrier you do business with. Otherwise you become Sanyo, who went from making the number one devices for customer satisfaction to getting bought out by a company most consumers 1. Haven't heard of and 2. Can't pronounce. There's a price to be paid for only having your devices...

If all of Verizon's 90 million customers get an Iphone I will eat my hat....

And don't give me the 'surveys show that 50% of Verizon say they will get one' either..those kinds of polls are bogus, sure....50% of Verizon customers will get an Iphone, IF they can get it free, or BOGO, and IF they aren't required to have a data plan and IF they don't have to sign a 2 year contract extension, if they don't have to use iTunes and so on and so forth, the moment they start seeing what the actual terms and conditions for that iPhone are....50% or more of those who say they plan to get one will get a different phone instead, but of course if you ask somebody 'would you like to have an additional option?' they will answer 'yes', who wouldn't?
