The only reason I could see a stop ship is if they changed the API's enough that it would break how the phone would function. (which is possible, but I don't know enough about how those work to comment)

But Motorola shipped the Backflip (yahoo search) and samsung fascinate (Bing) that shipped no issue, so I am doubtful that they got a "stop ship" order unless it actually broke something compatibility wise. Google seems to have no issue with people supplanting parts of android, but I could see them having a problem if it broke compatibility.

It will be interesting to read Google's response.
