Not suppose to be released? Are you implying that

Of course they aren't supposed to be released.

before the device is bought - the carrier may get stuck with an inventory of devices that can't be sold. ( keep in mind in several cases carriers pay significantly more than what they charge consumers hoping to get their investment back. Hence the reason for a mail in rebate that takes 4-6 weeks to process (after the agreement has been solidified) and higher plan commitments as in data packages You may pay $199 for a smart phone but you carrier most likely paid over $500 to the manufacturer.

Customers go after the carriers because the carriers are the ones that approve the devices quality for the customers. When you buy a TV from Best Buy you take it back to Best Buy while its under warranty. If you buy an Apple Computer you take it to Apple. If the carriers didnt want to deal with customers having issues with their handsets then they shouldn't sell phones or they should raise quality control.

I have been with Sprint since 1997 and I have always owned a higher tier devices. They have always done right by me with no questions asked exchanges both in the repair center and over the phone with exchange by mail and I have always had equipment protection on my devices more over when it was dev...
