The only real con right now for AT&T is the network, which compared to T-Mobile, is great. T-Mobile's data speeds trump AT&T's but usually only when you're sitting next to a tower.

You'll find AT&T's coverage and connectivity spotty till prob. the end of Dec. since they're doing that whole continuous improvement thing with the towers. (replacing copper wiring/components with fiber optics and new materials) which means towers will be taken down a few at a time. In larger areas you don't notice so much, but some of the smaller towns and more rural areas you might.

I expect at&t's coverage in rural areas in the midwest and northwest to significantly improve also when they complete the conversion of the old Alltel markets to at&t

They push family plans to reduce churn. Customers are far less likely to cancel 3 or 4 lines than they are just one single line.

$10.00 for a phone to share EXISTING plan minutes is a sham anyway, the company is not providing any more service or features for additional phones.

This is a really good way to keep existing business and win new customers.

You know, like the ability to make two calls at once from separate locations. 🙄 While I hear what you're saying and agree with most of it, you can't short the fact that there are TWO phones, and an associated value to the customer for that.

Not to mention the minute bundles are different between regular and family plans.

WHo uses minutes? I've got 3 of us on the smallest (700) family plan and NEVER run out of minutes.

I can tell you don't have T-Mobile personally because the network is dependable and fairly fast. HSPA+ is being built throughout major market areas to further improve the sub's experience.

T-Mobile's speeds aren't solid. They *are* fast.

I work for AT&T and we got a memo on the speeds and such not that long ago from and the big thing was that T-Mobile stomps our Data...AT&T just has a more solid and far-reaching network, (as much as all you haters complain about it, they do.) which means faster connections for the mass users in non-standard locations.

T-Mobiles site tests came back better, but their 'average customer experience' showed greater degradation of the data over shorter distances. (Basically meaning AT&T would smoke your data 1 mile from a tower but T-Mobile would kick butt .5 miles from a tower.

Another kind of funny thing is that T-Mobile isn't even considered enough of a big hitter to be considered in ...

🙂 Your nuts bud,
Att's "3g" network is pretty bad. And not to mention their data cap! T-Mobiles HSPCA+ network is the fastest there is. Says Who? Says CNet, PhoneScoop, Android Central, etc. PLUS T-Mobile signed a 4.6 billion deal to put a crap ton more towers. (fiber optic) i mean.
Get your facts right. Thanks.
P.S
My bud has a iphone4 on T-Mobile... no complaints

A couple points of BS filtering, and fact straightening.

BS Filter=ON
If you bud has no complaints of his iPhone on Tmobile, then he's only running data on 2G Edge, since the 3G freq's aren't on the device for Tmobi in the USA. So if he isn't complaining, then he's happy with the slowest speed there is on GSM.

Fact's bent
Please show me the links for the data tests. First, what device supporting HSPA+ exists? Answer: One, Nexus G2.
TMobi says they have HSPA+ on the towers of their tiny footprint, but there hasn't been any realworld test that shows if the backhaul is up to task to provide end to end benefit

Misinfo:
AT&T has a data cap. No, it's an allowance, if you go over, you pay and you continue to get great speed. Not ...
