I got a G1, jailbroken with cyanogen android 2.2 FroYo. I thought the G2 would be something crazy. This is very dissapointing. Just gonna wait till tax time to upgrade to a better android phone.

How well does the G1 run with 2.2? I've been told a G1 with 2.2 would have minimal amounts of memory available.

it feels nice. a bit unstable and memory is about 18-20mb left but you now have built in "apps2SD" so most of your apps you download will go to SD. I also have Sense UI with pinch to zoom. battery life is sparratic but not too bad. camera tends to work faster with a bit more options and better user interface.

Yeah, the G2 is "only" 2.2, but the beauty of it is going to be internet browsing speed. HSPA+ is much faster than current 3g. if you are in an area where HSPA+ is avaiable.

It is supposedly going to have a dedicated GPU that runs at 205 MHz, which will make up for the difference in CPU in most instances.

And what would you do with the extra 200Mhz?? Seriously, don't call something a FAIL if you have no idea what it means. The chip in the G2 is different, not radically so, but still different than the one in the HD2, Nexus, Droid 2/X, Incredible, EVO, etc. Smaller 45 nm process as well as an integrated GPU, which I don't believe the original batch of Snapdragons had. Its kind of like comparing the Nexus to the Vibrant. Both run at the same speed, but the Vibrant's CPU/GPU combo is just a bit more powerful. Clock speed isn't everything.

What exactly did you expect? You've got a combo CPU/GPU chip running the show, a perfect screen size, a QWERTY and FroYo. You weren't holding out for a FFC, were you? Perhaps a built-in coffee maker? How about a cupholder?
