NAB Says FM Radios No 'Burden' to Cell Makers
I like options - FM
I was just reflecting about the poor folk, or those who don't want to pay for data. For example: at&t has the LG Prime it has FM radio in it, its a very cheap phone mostly for GoPhone. This is a good use of FM because it reaches the public (in case of emergency) as a free service, and furthermore this phone does not have intense data or a memory card.
Music for the masses.

True, but you can buy a sub-$50 MP3 player with an FM radio in it. You can get a standalone FM radio for just a few dollars. People aren't deprived of anything by not having FM radio in their phones.
I *COULD* carry a flip phone, an iPod, a laptop/tablet, a FM player, a PDA... but why?
That's the whole reason to pay for a smart phone, honestly... Phone, internet, music, pda, etc... all in one device. It's the only reason I'll pay $30/month for it.
Hell... some of em are almost tablets/laptops.
The reason I do not use wired headsets are they break a lot. If you drive often, you fray the wire from looking left and right to check your mirrors and make safe turns. They are also unsightly, ungainly, and add another twist in the spaghetti of wires you have to unravel when you go travel.
While it is nice to have FM included on a phone, it should not be mandatory to include it on a phone.
As I said before, yeah, it would be nice to have an old cassette player slot as an option on a car, but if DOT required all cars to have cassette players to be road legal, don't you ...
