Let's see, I can pay $80 for 5 GB of data with Verizon, or $40 for unlimited data with Virgin

Hmm, uhhhhh, durrr, duhhhh, uhhhhhh, which one should I pick?

Yeah, that's showin' 'em, Verizon! Keepin' it competitive!

🙄

This must be part of Verizon's "We Think Customers Are Really Stupid" marketing campaign.

If price was the only consideration we would all be driving Yugos and eating store brand foods...

Guess what? Price is not the only consideration.

Actually in a blind taste test I conducted in my consumer marketing class a year or two back we tested a sample of 1000 people offering them different brands of fruit loops. And of course 2 store brands beat out Kellogs Fruit Loops in the taste test, pricing was not a factor.

So basically dont hack it until you've tried it is basically what Im saying

I am not criticizing store brands, I am saying that price is merely one of many different factors that you have to weigh, sure Virgin Mobile might have a cheaper plan, but maybe they have worse coverage, or their customer support is not as good....lots of other factors come into play and price is not always the decisive one.

If price was the only factor Verizon would go bankrupt because it's plans are the most expensive of any national carrier, and yet they are #1 in customers, and growing.

Many people are willing to pay more for a service that they see as somehow 'better'

they use the same network its a 3g evdo rev-a netowrk virgin is on sprint, do a data speed test virgin, aka sprint prepaid pulls just as good or better than verizon people who think verizon is better watch to much tv, people like my customers who want to cancel with sprint becasue we dont have a droid at verizon, verizon has made consumers so stupid they do no understand every google phone works the same verizon markets for retartds, but there sure are a he** off a lot of raTards in this country that buy it

As far as coverage goes, it varies by region, there are place in this country where the only reliable provider is Sprint, there are places where the only reliable provider is AT&T, there may even be places where the only reliable provider is T-Mobile, although I personally am not really aware of them.

Frankly I think that choosing a network for a certain phone is dumb, first you choose the network THEN you choose the phone, doing it the other way around only leads to customer dissatisfaction because they get stuck in networks they don't like.

Virgin DOES have poorer coverage than Verizon. But for someone who lives in a metropolitan area Virgin should be a no brainer now.

That is true. Verizon is going to cover those in rural areas (Thanks to Alltel's prior strategy of covering those locales) moreso than Virgin ever would. But even still their price point is preposterous. Do not even TRY to defend it.

Who is defending it? I think that charging more for a pre-paid plan than for a post-paid plan (Verizon's post paid 5 GB plan sells for $60) is outrageous.

What I am defending is the idea that one is not necessarily 'retarded' because they choose to pay a higher price for a service.

The idea that it is 'retarded' to pay more for Verizon data plan than a Virgin Mobile data plan is makes sense only if you assume that the two services are exactly equivalent in every respect save the price. And I don't think one can reasonably make that argument.

In fact in most of the country Sprint's data network is more reliable than Verizon's

Rule the air must mean put out more propoganda mis-stating reality. Spend more money convincing people that no other network will work and yes you rule the air.

Many people don't switch because 5-7 years ago Verizon did have a clear network advantage. Times have changed but many people had such a bad experience with other carriers many years ago that they will not change. They still say that Sprint and T-Mobile have terrible coverage and tout Verizon while on "extended network" in downtown areas.

Verizon has always seemed to me to have rotten customer service, around these parts, we've always called Verizon the 'we never credit network' although I don't know if their reputation for stinginess is justified. Sprint hands out credits like candy, which may be no small part of the reason why they find it hard to make a profit.
