Because we all know that Virgin and Verizon are identical services with the same coverage and data speeds. Why provide choices or options?...Not saying that I would do it...Verizon has always said they do not tout the cheapest service, but they do boast a reliable network.

You are right, but sometimes Verizon acts like it is a freaking satellite phone company. You know how satellite phone companies have way more expensive rates, but provide coverage where cellular doesn't? Well Verizon's extra coverage is not that much better than others, or that necessary for some others, to justify that kind of pricing. My prediction is that sometime within a few months, they will modify this pricing.
