... to struggle for every single proposal or decision??? I mean, if makers decide to fight against this decision, that`s ok, but for us to start fighting for it??? C`mon!!! If rejected, ok! and if approved, don`t use the damn radio! Somebody (light users, maybe) will take advantage of it! Don`t you think so??? 😈

First, of all it would add an unnecessary and unwanted cost to the devices. Someone has to pay for this. The market has shown that FM receivers in phones have limited appeal.
Second, it's blatantly putting a burden on companies who are outside the dispute for no other reason than the profit of the first two parties. That's just saying. "We can't agree, so we're going to make you foot the bill."
...
Not to mention this would be a disgusting abuse of government power to enforce an anti-competitive mandate if this were to pass. This is an anti-competitive, anti-consumer, pro massive, old dying corporation move.
I'm not too worried, it won't go anywhere... I hope...

I agree with you guys, but what I mean is: Why do we make a storm out of a glass of water, when that storm has to be done by the affected parties (phone makers)???

Because once the foot is in the door, they can use the loophole created to start mandating more hardware requirements. They already did this with HDCP and Vista, requiring ridiculously secure encryption inside the machine itself, which also did not help make graphics cards or the displays more affordable or with the reliability of a system.
Requiring an FM Radio might seem like a small thing, but having to add another radio and chipset to the already crowded systems on a phone is extra cost that is unnecessary.
It's like requiring all cars to have a Cassette Player installed. It's extra cost not needed. Cars already have CD and Satellite radios, and tapes are old and useless compared to the alternatives.

Well... You made your point, and I agree with you...

I wouldn't mind an FM (or even an AM) radio receiver in my cell phone, I could see it being convenient, but I resent the idea of the government saying that it HAS TO BE included on every phone.
