I figured this was dead, why would the music industry bite the hand that feeds them?
I will never understand the greed of the industry.

While it is cool to have an FM Radio on a mobile phone, it is not a feature anyone actually uses, since Slacker/Pandora/MP3 Or AAC Collection tend to be preferred as mobile phone music. Forcing all phones to have AM/FM would make sense in the context of Apocalyptic breakdown/Only communication still working kind of setting, but for everyday use, it's unnecessary cost to FM Radio all phones.
Then again, RIAA is milking their cash cow so hard it will die on them hard and fast one day.

I have a Yahoo Music app that I can listen to local radio stations with.

what features i want in a phone is my business!, not the lobbyists!

+1 netboy, I dont want to hear static and interference with an obsolete receiver on my phone, the mobile streamcenter works great for any am/fm station I want to hear across the USA. Its something I dont want or need on my phone, and I think the market should dictate what hardware should be on phones. There are already a handful of phones currently out with the fm receiver, I dont really see them flying off the shelves or people coming in saying thats what they want in a phone.

Mobile Streamcenter? Is that an am/fm internet radio app for Android?
...
It works with any phone that allows streaming in mp3/aac and other formats. I know for sure with windows, blackberry and android phones it works. www.themobilestreamcenter.com/pda

Try "Radio Time". I have used this app on a Palm Pre and on an android device.
It will play local stations (Including NPR), stations from other cities, or individual programs as you choose.
