I have the Captivate, and it's a great phone. There have been several homebrewed GPS fixes out there, and the results have overall been positive, so I'm thinking the odds are good that Samsung's fix will improve things.

If you want Windows Phone 7, that's your choice, but don't expect that it'll be any less bug-free than Android on the Captivate. After all, with the Captivate, you have new hardware running an established OS. With WP7, you're going to have new hardware running an entirely new OS, so prepare for a potentially rough ride. Also, app development is going to have to get off the ground. Right now, developers are trying to write for the iPhone, Android, and BlackBerry. Many are stretched pretty thin as it is, and they're on...

You'll purchase an untested, new handset running on completely new software written from the ground up because the alternative phone has a single issue that they're fixing.

Good luck on that one, prepare for countless issues on that WP7 P.O.S.

Geez, genius!
i wonder why people stand in lines DAYS to get playstation 3 or Wii (when they first came out) since the hardware/software never tested by general public! 🤣

Just curious because, you know, just about everybody has an iPod. Now if the iPod suddenly had one random issue that they fixed, would you switch to Zune?

Genius.

It's interesting how many people drink the Kool-aid.
Windows phone 7 is going to have every asset that Microsoft can put into a phone. The Zune software is excellent, X-Box Live, Silverlight, etc.

Even Winmo with its limitations sold very well. It is very easy to sell Corporate America on a device that is relatively seamless with the corporate network and is a secure platform.

Many larger corporations will not allow an iPhone or an Android phone to access their network due to security concerns. Blackberry and Winmo are secure enough.

If you have never sold to big business then it is easy to see why Winmo gets little respect.
It is designed for business, not the gadget happy consumer. Microsoft is relatively unconcerned about ...

My response was directed at the original poster:

Microsoft provides excellent software that "just works" on both ends from the companies exchange server to phone. I personally use a Windows Mobile phone on exchange for my company.

But, for a consumer, falling back to Windows Phone 7 from Android because GPS had a small issue is sort of a bad reason.

Speaking of drinking the Kool-Aid...

WinMo in its current form hasn't sold well in the past two years, and it wasn't exactly a thriving ecosystem back in the "Well there's nothing better" days, either.

Second, as someone who worked with a medium-sized business deploying WinMo handsets, the OS is woefully incompetent for business purposes. Businesses don't need Zune Integration or XBox integration, either, but they do need a browser with proper security (WM doesn't have it), reliable synchronization (WM doesn't have it) , decent application security (WM doesn't have it) , reliable email clients (WM doesn't have it), and good messaging capabilities (WM doesn't have it.) The only thing WM has is good Exchange integration... which iOS and...

You are right about Blackberry being the top choice among large enterprises. It offers great security and does exactly what the user wants it to do. Corporate America is unconcerned about most of the things that can be done with an iPhone or Android phone. They prefer the employee to be a bit more limited.

But if I want to take an office document with me I prefer Winmo. The iPhone has made some inroads into this arena but it is still pretty much owned by RIM and Winmo.

Really? That's like those idiots who were so upset with Apple's response to the iPhone 4 'antennagate' situation they bought an Android handset. That's like getting upset over a minute detail and buying a complete piece of crap as a result. So over a tiny GPS issue you'd buy a phone with potentially an ungodly number of problems.

What kind of drugs are you on? I need my gps, I depend on it! I get confuse with direction easily. I even get confuse on elevator, I feel like I go in on 1 side, out the other side. Wp7 is not even out yet, and you bashing it already? That' like saying the next spiderman or next twittlight will be suck even it' not even out yet!

This has got to be a troll or something. Using twilight in a reference to prove a point about not sucking? And Spiderman basically started out strong but he turned into such a whiny b*tch by 2/3 that no one wanted to watch them anymore.

are you one of those sheep, err loser, that believe everything movie critics said instead of seeing the movie yourself??

Spiderman2: Total World Wide - $ 783,766,341

Both movies you listed will suck, horribly. That's a terrible comparison to use to support your argument. Spider-Man really doesn't need a reboot 7 years after the very good original came out. Twilight has, and always will, suck.

And I echo everyone else's sentiments. I have the Vibrant, and it is awesome. The GPS issue is very, very easily fixable. So why would you go with Windows Phone 7, an unknown OS that will have a very hard time getting off the ground over an established OS on a phenomenal device that will be getting a fix in a month?
