Personally, I don't have an attraction to a front-facing camera. I don't want people to see my ugly mug! It may scare them off the phone! However, you may not have to wait long to get your wish.
Both of the tablets in testing/development now have front-facing camera. The Samsung is planned to be out for the Christmas seasonal. The Motorola is looking at a February timeframe due to their desire to launch it with android 3.0.
On the pure handset side, the Motorola Droid Pro will have world travel capabilities plus the front-facing camera. Sort of the best of all possible worlds, IMO. This, too, should launch for the Christmas seasonal.
