Jesse,

Great comments on the 809's build quality. This is an issue that has prevented me from purchasing any type of slider format handset. Not only to I find them cumbersome, but they're just itching to be broken. Having not seen your name before in these pages...welcome!

My A800 has lasted for a year and weared fine. I have dropped it many times and it is scratched extensively, but it still works with nice action.

Jesse actually did the review on the LG vx8100. Here's the link:

I think he does a good job and will be a great fit here at PhoneScoop

I think the build quality isn't as bad as is being portrayed. The sliding mechanism has loosened slightly in my use. However all in all i think it a very well put together phone. Now I've only had it for a little over a month as stated in my review, so time will tell. But i like it. I was a little iffy about the sliding design myself (I've used clamshell phones for a number of years) but I have to say, I have been pleasantly surprised.

zero worry whatsoever about the physical quality of my T809. solid and good. anyway, a slider is less worrisome than a clamshell with regards to "itching to be broken!" ... you want a candy bar phone if that's your worry
