No the iPhone is closed. You have to Jailbreak it to get that functionality..

yep, get an iphone 4, and give up my unlimited data plan for one that will cost me $5 more a month (I use between 2-3 gigs, so 25+10) Plus another $20 for the tethering plan which doesn't add any data for that feature, so throw another 2gigs onto that for tethered usage, and I am up to paying $75/mo for data on my phone.. yeah, sounds like a great deal.

(and you can't grandfather the unlimited plan with tethering)

Yes, you can tether without jailbreaking/rooting on the iphone 4. But the plans for it are freaking pathetic.

Or a non-rooted, completely stock android can Pay $20, download PDA net from the market, and tether that way. (though they might risk corporate ire, I know quite a few people who use it for that "emergency" connec...

A buddy of mine has been using PDANet since Decemeber and has had 5 months in a row over 10 gigs. He downloads torrent files/movies to his computer and no problems. I never got close to 5 gigs so cant speak for myself.
