Just download PDANet in Android Market for free tethering and unlimited. You do pay something around $20 bucks after the 30 day trial. But its legit. Its allowed by Verizon, they know about it and dont restrict it and its part of you Unlimited data plan. I have used it since Dec 09 on my Droids.

Works great. It actually is available for Blackberrys and Iphones as well. Data test speeds actually would outperfom my Aircard, so I cancelled it!

Confirmed. I live on a ranch, and use my android phone as my only internet provider. PDAnet works great, and easily pays for itself in convenience.
