Android 2.2 brings r-a-d-i-c-a-l-l-y improved web browser performance, and a few other features such as WiFi hotspot. I don't know how many will make it to the Droid or Evo.

Its also going to fix the bluetooth voice command issue on the other Droids.

The 2 things I want the most however are Flash support and the new app update feature. 🙂

I just hope the web browser is going to be as fast as Google says it is with 2.2, I want to be able to actually notice a difference!

Some of these things could change, but most of them haven't since the first release:

-Default of 5 homescreens/new launcher (app drawer) that has a button for phone/browser that will show up at the bottom of every screen.
-Dramatically improved web browsing
-Improved application speed, allowing your phone to handle more complex commands faster.
-Wifi hotspot ($20/mo for 2GB)
-Improved camera software
-You can install Adobe Flash on your phone if you want. You can enable/disable this from the browser (or set it to load on demand)
-Apps to SD-save applications to your SD card, allowing you to install more
-Bluetooth voice dialing
-Better enterprise/exchange support
-make your password lock for your phone digits instead of a patte...

Any idea if HTC will launch a Droid Incredible-like device with a physical keypad?

I'm sure its just a matter of time.

You still haven't found any Android smartphones that impress you? What about the Droid 2?

They are all more impressive than my XV6900. I want one supported by vzam.net So far the Incredible is the only one which fits the bill. I don't want to get one only to have HTC release a keypad version the next month.

Verizon Wireless Access Manager

Basically Verizon's Tethering software for your laptop/desktop. Azeron has a grandfathered plan with a great tethering package if I remember correctly.

Sort of... There are leaked images of something called the "G1 Blaze" but it looks like Tmobile is getting it.

I think Motorola is making the keyboard phones for Verizon atm. Now, rumors of the N2 are surfacing.. maybe that will have a keyboard and Verizon will offer it? I'm kinda miffed that they're allowing motorola to lock bootloaders again.. right now there is no new phone coming to verizon running stock android and could be considered a "Dev" device... makes me sad.

That being said.. when I get another phone.. I don't think I will care that much if it had a keyboard or not.

So HTC isn't locking its devices? This sounds promising. I would like an android device with a keypad but it could NEVER be a Motorola.

well, HTC is doing some things to make rooting a bit harder (the incredible took a bit) but so far MOtorola is the only one digitally signing the bootloaders.

HTC is pretty dev friendly across the board. SPrint and Verizon do what they can to minimize this, but they have a very active development community over at XDA developers.
