Could it be that Samsung was busy making screens for their own phones. They have four phones coming to the market on four major US carriers. I'd say so. Smart move HTC.

HTC needs to learn how to forecast their demand for LCD's instead blaming Samsung. Good luck with Sony!!!!

Um, ok sure..

But do you not see the HUGE conflict of interest in Samsung being the sole supplier of a critical component of their competition's product?

I DO agree that HTC made a mistake, I just don't think it was in their forecasting as much as in allowing this supply chain fiasco to occur in the first place.

No, if Samsung was the sole supplier of LCD's (issue in question) how can HTC decide to switch to Sony as their new LCD vendor?

The increased demand of certain components for Android or other Smartphone devices globally has created a constraint. Basic fundamentals of forecasting and plannning.

Even though Samsung has many divisions that manufacture components for mobile phones and mobile phones themselves, why would they limit production of LCD's just to one source?

Your opinion states to gain advantage over the competition, not disagreeing, but this division of Samsung is in the business of making $$$.

I hold the opinion Samsung would love to "corner" the market, but they have more to gain when they supply components to multiple OEM's and operators.
