Palm Chief Says WebOS 2.0 On Target for Later This Year
Can't Wait!
WebOS is nothing short of a phenomenal OS. Despite only being a year old, it's extremely polished- things like multitasking, notifications, background controls, and application Management are all extremely well thought out- done with the intention of being the best . For the most part, it still is despite a fairly stagnant 6 months of development.
It's the very opposite of Android, where things are just done haphazardly ("Look, we've got multitasking! But no real decent way to control Pandora in the background!")
It desperately needs better hardware (I don't think the Pre is terrible but it feels like B-grade hardware at best, especially in the age of the iPhone 4 and Nexus One), and much better marketing. The Pre is for sale on 3 carriers- none of whom want to sell the device.
