Making crap up? I have a PhD and I have been involved in computer programming and such for more than 20 years....and I have been using computers since the original Apple II in 1978.

The fact is that Apple's current PR problems with the iPhone 4 are entirely of their own making and are a result of 30+ years of excessive hype of their products.

No matter how small or modest a particular advance might be Apple always proclaims that it is 'revolutionary' and that the new product is the greatest product of its type that has ever been produced by anyone.

They weren't content to say simply 'we made some modest changes and improvements to the iPhone' they proclaimed the iPhone 4 the most advanced (and revolutionary, everything that Apple does is ALWAYS proclaimed 'revolutionary' Steve Jobs has a bizarre fixation on that word) smartphone ever made and claimed that it 'changes everything...again'

You know what? You live by the hype, you die by the hype.

If Apple didn't constantly talk about how their products were the greatest and most innovative products EVER people wouldn't take them to task for comparatively minor flaws.
