They're running the same network though unless there's something I'm missing.
I had a data card with my laptop for a week, and I had an HTC Evo on hand for a day. The fastest I got (on the data card) was about 4mbps, but more likely it was around half that. The Evo couldn't pull in a 4G signal for the life of me, and I barely cracked above 3G speeds.
