Update Impressions on an iPhone 4:

1) The readout is much more linear. Where my iPhone 3G and iPhone 4 used to *never* show 3 bars (it'd usually be all 5-or-one-to-two) , I now hover around 3 bars.

The best thing I can compare it to is it reads out like your typical CDMA phone (Palm Pre for reference) , as opposed to the typical GSM *always 5 bars* readout.


2) The readout is much more consistent. Most GSM phones used to be schizophrenic, dropping down to 1 bar where I live. Now averaging 2-3 bars is pretty consistent.


3) No it doesn't solve the attenuation issue. But it will likely solve the issue of people seeing 5 bars drop to nothing. You'll lose about 2 bars of service holding it there. With 3 bars I had to hold it pretty diligently and I dropped to 1 bar (...
