NOT GOING TO FIX THE PROBLEM

You can have the best antenna ever made in there and it's still not going to fix AT&T's suck ass service. Dude, seriously.. **** AT&T already. The iPhone's just not worth the nightmare of dropped calls I have to put up with daily. I swear if I ever see Steve Jobs I'm gonna bash his thick billionaire hippie skull against the wall of the nearest Verizon store until he ****in' gets it already.

You consider a corporate monopoly a step below perfection? I can understand the antenna issue. Shot happens. They fixed it. What I don't understand is forced to use a carrier that absolutely sucks. The number of iphone users who hat AT&T nearly all of them. It's a big issue. Even John Stewart ripped on it saying how that it's the greatest device ever but that "AT&T renders it' useless.. as a phone".

By what definition do you define "monopoly"?

You seem to define it as any corporation in which case, then every corporation is a monopoly.

I never made the claim that a corporation was a step below perfection. I merely stated that you're not entitled to perfection from Apple.

Furthermore, you are not entitled to purchase a product in whatever configuration you wish. In this case, that would be fully unlocked. Apple has decided along with ATT that this would be the configuration in which it would be sold.

A business exchange requires both parties to come to an agreement. The only entitlement you have as a consumer is to walk away from the purchase.

Wow..Do you work for AT&T or something? Either that or if this was Star Wars you'd definitely be assembling aircrafts for the Death Star. Listen, I did not agree to being their customers based on a choice. There were no other options made available to me. It was a take it or leave it situation. And since I needed a good PDA I HAD to go with AT&T. Every cell carrier is the same. You want a particular phone, you have to go with that particular company. ONly after it's popularity so they allow another network to sell it as well. Just because that's "the way it is" doesn't make it right. It's f*cked up. Plain and simple. There's a bills written every day in congress trying to change that that always get shut down due to corporate lobbying. Don'...

First of all, I am not employed by ATT or have been at any time. Even if I was, would it make my argument any different?

I'm not too fond of ATT service, but I still use it because my company pays for it. I could pay extra to get my own service, but I don't really care to spend any more money.

You DID have an option. You mentioned it yourself. "Take it or leave it." You could have left it. Just because it was seen as an undesirable option does not make it a non-option.

ATT being the only carrier with "good" PDA is too subjective of an opinion to be an absolute.

With GSM phones, you also have the option of purchasing unlocked cell phones. My assumption is you don't really want to pay the unsubsidized price. Once again, ...

Once again, rather than posing an argument, you have chosen simply to insult me.

I would like to express my deepest gratitude for being given the opportunity to further hone my skills. The time I "waste" here goes to good user for the other things that I do.

If answering ALL your claims is off topic, I really don't know what on-topic is for you. For that matter, you're giving me an existential crisis.

If answering your claims correctly makes me a right wing nut job, then I can live with that.

FYI, I'm a libertarian nut job, and I don't like Glen Beck(or the Fox news channel).

This was fun.

He thinks it's the best phone out on the market, if not one of the best.

And I agree. I'm able to even produce the attenuation issues, and although it's a valid point of concern (unlike what a lot of cheerleaders have said), it is not significant in my real world usage of the phone (and eliminated entirely with my case.)

Even knowing that the antenna is sensitive to being bridged in certain situations, I don't know of a better phone sold today. It's lightning quick, the software is of extremely high quality, its processor screams, the battery life is excellent, voice quality is superb, and that's not even mentioning Facetime (which actually works.)

all of you icustomers know how much most people that are knowledgeable about the wireless industry hate that phone. criticism is to be expected. i absolutely LOVE my htc incredible, but i dont go into every news report involving htc or verizon and talk about how much better my phone is than everyone elses.

and as far as the iphones go, the 3gs was the better device. i think you will agree with me there. i also dont go in here and talk about how much i hate the iphone or at&t. i keep my mouth shut and enjoy the phone i have.

im just getting sick of iphone users who think its the best phone in the world. im sorry, but the EVO is the best phone in the u.s. right now.

No I think the 3GS is a significantly worse phone. It's not as fast, the screen is much worse, reception isn't as good, voice quality isn't as good, no Facetime, worse camera, etc. I'm willing to bet you haven't used an iPhone 4 personally or outside of an in-store display. He has.

He goes on the forums to correct the ignorant morons who talk crap about phones they don't own and/or know nothing about- the iPhone being a huge target because it's the trendsetter.

And the EVO is a significantly worse phone than the iPhone 4. It's larger, has a worse screen that is lower resolution, gets about 1/5th of the battery life, shipped with broken videoconferencing software, is slower than the iPhone 4, is friggin huge, runs an out-of-dat...

I completely agree with you. I sell cell phones and have used every smartphone that's on the market for every carrier. And because of where I work I get to spend a lot of time using them. And I was against apple for the last three years. But this iPhone 4 is great. No other phone operates like it. Not the evo not the droid x. People who are against them. My boss has the evo. It is a great phone no doubt about it. Great screen and blazing fast. But all that hardware is really a waste because android doesn't use even close to what has. The htc aria has a 600mhz processor I believe ( I could be mistaken) and it runs android exactly like the evo. Just as fast and just as friendly. Now the hd2 for tmobile that ran windows mobile that os showed amazing improvement backed by all that hardware. Smoothest winmo phone ever an if they made winmo phones like that this whole time we would see tons of them. But anyways hardware wise yes evo is superior in some ways (processor and screen size) but it's like putting windows 98 on a computer with an i7 processor and 8gb of ram. It's just for show. Are you aware that Sprint's 69.99 for EVERYTHING plan only gives you unlimited minutes to call other cell phones? You only get like 400 minutes a month to call landlines, and while I know it's a hard concept to wrap your brain around, some people do still have landlines and people with cellphones call them.

Come to Western NY, and steer clear of rochester/buffalo/syracuse, drive around that whole part of the state and you'll soon realize why all these people have such a shoddy opinion of ATT. I'm glad that the service/phone works for you, but the REALITY is that the majority of the time unless your on major highways/metro areas no other carrier gives you crap for service other than verizon. Even then I've had me, a ATT friend with his Iphone, a sprint and tmobile pal all lose service for large periods on I390 and I90 both are HUGE highways for this half of state.... You will soon realize AT&T has great coverage along highways, in major cities and throughout major suburban areas. Not to mention their 2.5G service that covers virtually everywhere you would want to travel in the USA.

I'm going to oversimplify it like this:

A month back, locally both AT&T and Verizon's network experienced some heavy congestion- the data speeds on both networks slowed to a crawl. Going by twitter, the volume of local people bitching about AT&T vs. Verizon was about 20 to 1.

The results aren't accurate. They're skewed by some weird justification for sticking with Verizon despite being a fairly mediocre network. AT&T's runs more hot and cold, but outside of NYC and some areas on the West Coast (both of which admittedly have high concentrations of iPhone users) , Verizon's network isn't as good as AT&T's.

AT&T has the pickiest customers in the world. Verizon has the least. Verizon's customers put up with what I can best describe as ...

Aggregate statistics are just that. Statistics about the aggregate. While it might be an indicator that overall one will have a better experience in network coverage, it does not guarantee it.

Ultimately you have to decide which is better. Is BMW better than Mercedes or vice versa? I really can't answer that in the absolute.

AT&T Customers are mostly iPhone customers?

Only about 6% of people on the AT&T network use the iPhone, and most of the sales of the iPhone 4 so far have been to existing iPhone customers, so there hasn't been much expansion, so that is a bit of an exaggeration there.

But AT&T does have more smartphones than any other network, not just in absolute numbers but as a percentage of total users...

This is largely because of all the corporate accounts as AT&T has contracts with Apple, Microsoft, Oracle, HP, with nearly every Fortune 500 company as well as the governments of more than 30 states and many major cities....and most of those customers use smartphones

And that's not to mention the laptop cards, which are rapidly growing as ...
