At least they are doing the update before 30 days.

So people are not locked into the phone if it doesn't work.

A lot of people speculated that Apple was going to wait until after the initial 30 day return period before releasing this "fix" and I'm glad they didn't. No one will be stuck with a phone they really don't want.

I'm updating mine right now, I'll let you know if I see anything different.

I just did mine, I still have an iPhone 3G, and now I am bouncing back and forth between 4 & 5 bars from a solid 5 bars before.

At my job I consistently have 3 bars, lets see what it says with the new update. Although I haven't had any issues with the antenna to begin with, but who knows. Maybe Apple snuck a few enhancements in the upgrade I'll enjoy! lol

And the wider bars look a little weird on my phone. I still get the same exact bars of service though, but it does change a little faster from 3-4 bars and the occasional 2 bars.

I still cannot replicate the "death grip" issue.

I wouldnt really call it an "upgrade", more like a patch. All they did was re-calibrate the antenna meter so you think its fixed. Have fun with it.

Ok, so they updated the signal bars on the phone to more accurately display the reception.

It used to be faulty, now its not.

How is that not an upgrade of the firmware?

But hey, you're just here to start a fight anyway so, have fun with that! 🙄

I really don't think iphone users are grasping the issue here. This is a very serious situation. Many as yourself are dismissing this as "Not a big deal" when in fact, it is indeed a very big problem. Apple is supposedly the foray in having a number one handset in the world. Then a design flaw that totally effects the primary function of the product, was completely overlooked.

Your love for Apple's iPhone may allow you to omit a certain amount of care to hold Apple responsible for this, but this is one of the reasons Apple has been able to tread lightly.

No matter what Steve Jobs says or does, iPhone consumers will just ignore the core issue of the company's main focus of fueling revenue from popularity made out of arrogance.
