Apple Distributes iOS 4.0.1 to Fix Antenna Software
Just masking the problem
I tried to get her to buy an Android phone but she thinks the new iphone is 'pretty'. *sigh*
I'm curious to see what Apple announces tomorrow at 1:00PM EST. I hope for a recall and a new model with a protected rim. Whatever it is, I always disliked Apple and the iphone because of their walled garden approach. With a company large, I'm surprised the antenna issue made it into the production version. Shame!
With Apple, I'm not surprised at all, that design made it out. They have a long history of taking form over function. This is the first time in a while they probably won't let it slip.

We can both agree though that this obviously isn't a solution to the problem by any means and I'm sure will only by them some time.
I don't like that buying a case (or using nonconductive tape) is a requirement just to hold the phone a certain way, but I don't understand wanting to suffer through a problem just based off of principle.
(I've cased all of my iPhones and N1's out of necessity- I drop my phones pretty often)

Apple is simply masking the problem with this patch. My wife is having serious issues with the phone's reception (just the way she holds it - and it's habit and hard to change) and is basically just using a Bluetooth headset now.
