Because brick and morter stores are more expensive than online stores to maintain and stock?

Stuff will ALWAYS be cheaper online. This is a given.

That doesn't mean that this sale is insignificant.

Umm thanks for the explanation, however being a MBA graduate, I am more than familiar with the concept.

What you failed to mention is companies such as Verizon, on average, have more resouces available to them than online stores. They COULD offer better pricing if they CARED to do so. But instead they would rather exploit there customers by offering bogus discounts.

It doesn't matter what Verizon does. They have SIGNIFICANTLY higher costs than online.

Compare the cost of running a couple warehouses like amazon to running thousands of brick and mortar stores, having thousands of additional employees.

I highly doubt you have an MBA if you think that raw size is the only thing that matters.

I never said that raw size was the only thing that matters. I do realize this isn't the proper median for such decision and I don't want an online argument.

My education speaks for itself so there is no reason to defend it. My only purpose for posting was to advise that there are cheaper or equal pricing available.

An MBA (I know because I have one also) is nothing more than a liberal arts degree in the business world. In other words, it teaches you just a little bit about everything, but not enough to be an expert or "know it all" in any one area.

Sure it's insignificant! To those consumers who are smart enough to go to amazon or ebay.

A lot of consumers don't seem to mind being ripped off.

I got a car charger for my mothers Droid recently on ebay for only $6.88 incl. shipping. Probably would've been what at least $20 @ a wireless store?

most likely 20. 30 if it was OEM. remember, those accessories are there to partially pay for the phones as well.

I don't get that. Accessories help pay for phones? Doesn't a customer paying their bill for the length of the contract help pay for the subsidy of the phone?

And yes, the car charger I got on ebay was the same one sold in Vzn stores, but the description said that for legal reasons the name Verizon was not on it. Ultimatly all that matters is that it works.

Next payday I'm going to buy a 2nd desktop charger for my spare batteries. Been having problems with the regular wall charger, toughscreen behaves all wacky when plugged in, really sucks!

stores don't get anything from you for your monthly contract. well, they get a small residual (like $1/mo) but all they get is the initial commission from the sale plus whatever you paid up front for the device.

Even better, say I sold you a phone and then 4 months later you decided to cancel you line. Verizon will charge back the store (aka, take back all the commission) and keep your ETF, so all the store has to cover their losses is what you paid up front for the phone (aka, they lose several hundred dollars)

Yes, if you get the phone online, or at a corporate store, your bill might go in the books as helping to pay for your line, but for retailers, its a once and done deal, and phones are paying less and less.

For example, the...

they issue is that you need to purchase the phone, and the phone is not that cheap. 🤣
