Hello!
If it did happen, Would Sprint buyout T-mobile or the other way around?
Thanks!
...
No clue. Each has considerable assets. Clearwire will likely play some role if it happens.
...
Doesn't Sprint own 57% of Clwr? Seems like Sprint would have more say.
...
Remember that T-Mobile's owners have much deeper pockets than Sprint Nextel...
...
So is Tmo THE #1 wirelesss carrier in Europe?
...
Seventh largest mobile phone provider in the world...
...
Is Vodafone/Verizon bigger than T-Mobile/DT?
...
Vodafone/Verizon is the 2nd largest in number of customers in the world after ChinaMoble.
However Vodafone/Verizon is the largest cellular company in the world. According to Wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vodafone »
...
Here's a list of the largest mobile companies in the world:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mobile_network_ ... »T-Mobile is #8, which is quite big considering Sprint isn't even in the top 30. T-Mobile has made no secret that they're not letting go of their US division very easily, after all, it still makes hundreds of millions of dollars in profit, unlike Sprint.
...
Thats tmobile Germany not tmobile USA. Sprint would need to pull in 2 million subscribers to make the list tmobile USA would need atleast 18 million to make in the top 30. T-mobile just posted a loss in profit as well and is in the top ten companies not to survive in 2011

That whole 'not surviving in 2011' story is absolutely false.
...
Who cares if Free Mobile merges with Sprint
neither companies will do as good as aTT or verizon

That article also brilliantly states that T-Mo is not working on any high speed data network. Right... LTE plans in the future, HSPA+ up and running in some cities already, and its faster than WiMax. That whole article was irritatingly speculative, and not well-researched.

Nice post, Sir.

But the U.S. would not allow for the USA to lose another carrier to foreign control.
...
Wasn't it said a while back the the owners of T-Mobile was thinking of selling it?
...
Isn't a merge different from an acquisition? A merge would be better for both parties rather than a complete buy of one or the other.

There are very few true "mergers of equals". Even when the companies are roughly equal in value, one company's CEO usually ends up with a demotion or some nominal position.
...
Merger/Acquisition is merely differences in accounting and surviving managment control. I would think it all boils down to what "arrangements" are made in the negotiations, not the form.
...
Eric,
Could Sprint take the spectrum it has under Nextel and convert that to LTE? I believe that is in the 850 Mhz.
...
Sprint has already stated they have enough spectrum to support both a wimax and lte network now idk if it the 850 mhz from Nextel but this would give Sprint a clear advantage over verizon and att.
...
Is sprints abundance of capacity due to their infrastructure or absence of customers. Doesn't that change if the buy T-Mobil or grow?
...
bit of both. throughout the last few years they have been losing customers. everyone knows that. but they also have a ton of spectrum. vzw, doesnt even come close, and att is a distant 2nd when it comes to the amount of spectrum they own. to be honest, i kinda like the merger idea. tmobile's phones on sprint's network would be pretty awesome.
...
see the thing is that cdma is a strong network now with sprint launching 4G is another thing. now personally 4G isnt out yet in the San Diego Area but when 4G hits its going to be a Seller on the 4G devices. now the issue wit sprint at the moment is the HTC evo being Backorded. which means this device is in such high demand. while all other cellphone carriers are on 3G sprint Will be offering 3G/4G with 4G being unlimited. At&t's and T-Mobiles network are GSM Which mean different networks and obviously call quality.

T-Mo will buy Sprint because Sprint has been losing money like crazy and wouldn't have enough cash to buy T-mobile.
...
You have no business sense, sprint has alot of money still, and like i said before, The government wont allow another foreign country to take over the cell phone market, it would At&t as the only U.S. owned carrier.
Also your wrong, sprint was losing money like crazy before, they have since turned ship and cut the subscriber bleeding from 1-2 million a quarter to just 100,000 last quarter. Also they have a projected profit and net subscriber gain this quarter.
...
Not to mention all the CASH the company has on hand. They've trimmed a lot of fat internally. What you dont read or hear about is the on hand cash flow as opposed to credit availability.
...
But is it enough to overcome the pockets of dutch telecom?
...
Nothing is as loud as $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
...
Mergers are done via various financing means other than Cash. (i.e. debt and/or stock or other assets)
...
Regardless of who buys who, it's a perfect union for a perfect couple. LOL
...
Even though you jest, your comment actually places truth on the topic. A merge between Sprint, Clearwire and T-mobile, would make a very formidable competing entity in the wireless industry. Something badly needed.

more spectrun
better network the vzw and att
now a merge with the best costumer services company t mobile
iphone 4g next jan
woow feel bad fore verizon and att ooh wait 👀
no i dont!!!!!! 🤣
...
Unless Deutsche Telekom decides to unload T-Mo USA you'd think it would have to be DT placing a bid for Sprint. There were talks last September about DT submitting a mult-million dollar bid for Sprint after they merged with Orange UK.
...
Umm, I think maybe you mean multi-billion?
...
Wouldn't a merger just be another spectrum under the Sprint umbrella that already has to many different technologies? I mean could they really afford to merge with T-Mobile which bring GSM to the table. Because even if it is after LTE it would still be a hybrid technology for all carriers for the next handful of years. It just doesn't seem smart to add GSM to a carrier that already has to sell multiple types of phones.
...
agreed I dont think Sprint buying out tmobile would be a good idea or vice/versa. But a partnership in Lte could have advantages for both Sprint and tmobile to allow them keep there Cdma/gsm subscribers and work on a Lte network that both could add there own subscribers 2 could work out
